Pet Insurance

Vet visits, illness and accidents

Pet insurance covers veterinary costs for cats and dogs. It is a young market in Turkey and the products differ a great deal from each other, which makes reading the terms more important here than almost anywhere else.

What it covers

Illness treatment
Examination, diagnostics and treatment costs, within the policy limits.
Accidents
Injury from falls, traffic accidents and similar events.
Surgery
Operations and the anaesthesia and hospitalisation around them.
Third-party liability
Damage or injury your animal causes to someone else. Particularly relevant for certain dog breeds.
Optional add-ons
Vaccination, routine check-ups, loss and theft, depending on the insurer.

What to watch for

  • Conditions present before the policy started are excluded.
  • There is an age limit at entry, and premiums rise as the animal gets older.
  • Routine vaccinations and preventive care are usually outside the standard scope.
  • Hereditary and breed-specific conditions may be restricted.
  • Annual and per-claim limits are lower than people expect, so the numbers deserve a proper look.

Who it is for

Cat and dog owners, particularly of breeds prone to specific conditions. Registration and microchipping are legally required for dogs, and matter for the policy too.

What we add as a broker

Because the market is young, the gap between a good and a poor policy is unusually wide here. Annual limits, excesses and how the insurer treats hereditary conditions are where the real differences sit, and we lay them out side by side rather than comparing headline premiums.

Frequently asked

Is there an age limit?
Every insurer sets one at entry, and it is lower than most owners assume. If you are considering cover, earlier is materially cheaper and easier.
Are vaccinations covered?
Usually not as standard. Some insurers offer it as an add-on. If routine care is what you are after, that changes which product suits you.
Is liability cover included?
It depends on the policy, and for certain dog breeds it is the most important part. We check it specifically rather than assuming it is there.
